Moscow Russia full report

My opinion about the weekend in Russia, we (Dorus and me) left on Wednesday night to Moscow when we get there it was very cold and we where very hungry. Dinner was ready when we arrived in the hotel which was the Olympic village from the Olympics in 1980, so that was pretty cool. In the afternoon we went to the track which was really nice.. at the evening Roy arrived and we went to Moscow city with a few other people from the BMX track. On Friday we had another training and we were getting used to the food and started to like it. Saturday was a relay race (estafette race) every team was with 3 guys and 1 girl so we where only with 3 dutch riders and had to get 1 Russian girl “Marina” she was pretty fast , on the qualification we had the 2nd time cause Dorus dropped the ring.. haha!! Then the race was all 4 team’s together for the first place.. Roy started the race and won then I was and I won also after me was Dorus but we did a bad change and Dorus was in 2nd but he past Uldis and won also then our Russian girl and she won as well so we took the win on Saturday..!! Sunday was the race it started with a time trial from the Supercross hill. The race was on the normal hill. I won all my Motos and also my semi, the main was over 3 runs in my first run I finished 2nd, my 2nd run I won and in my 3rd Run I had a very bad gate and was in 6th place and came to 3rd place in the 2nd turn but Artis was in first and he would win with this result but on the last straight I passed both riders and won the race and also won the overall.. after those 3 mains I was so tired till I went to bed my legs where burning... There was lots of media coverage covering the race, there where 4 TV channels to film and lots of other press. Also some people came up to me and told me ”the old Martijn is back” (Only Dorus hahaha) Thats all FOLKS!!

This weekend I raced a money race in Moscow Russia, where the 2011 UCI World Championships will be. The track looked good and I was feeling good. I made it to the final after winning my motos and semi. The final was 3 rounds, I got 2nd the first round behind Artis Zentis from Latvia. The 2nd and 3rd round I won.

UCI World cup Salt Lake City USA

Last weekend I raced the UCI Supercross in Salt Lake city which was part of the Dew Tour. I was feeling good. In the first quarter I had lane 4 and a good gate jumped the first one a bit to high but came out of the first turn in 3th, this track was small so passing was almost impossible. So I got 3th the first quarter. 2nd quarter I got 3th again and the last quarter I crashed on the second double. Was unconscious till I got in the ambulance, but after a check up in the hospital everything was fine. I still managed to make it to the semi finals, but didn't race. UCI World cup Salt Lake City USA

Yesterday I arrived in Salt Lake city, I had a pretty bad flight with a 2 hour delay but we where already in the plain ready to go and then the plain had to go back to the gate because there was something wrong with it, when we finally arrived in Salt Lake we had to wait for about an hour for our luggage I was in the hotel at 2.30am Monday instead of 11.00pm Sunday. today I went to the track which looked pretty good but BIG!! first straight is like the same as Madrid 2 big jumps and out of the first turn you have a berm jump over the last turn followed by a big double.. cant wait to ride the track.. tonight the rest off the team will arrive they have been to Canada for the ERA cup.

I had a lot fun in China first few days we spent in Taiyuan where we had a super nice hotel only bad thing there was the weather we had a bit of rain the 2nd day which messed up the track. When we came back in Beijing my hotel supposed to be close to the Olympic village but it was not, it was about 35 til 50 min with the cab depends on the traffic. Í met the craziest taxi drivers in the world some of the showed me whole of Beijing without ending on the good spot. And 1 of them was the craziest thing in my live, the taxi driver should bring me to the Holland-Heineken-house (HHK) but before a red traffic light he fell a sleep, before I woke him up I took a picture

and Athletics

which was really good (thanks!!) BMX racing was the only event I went the asked for tickets instead of selling them in front of the entrance, and the races where sick. I did the closing ceremony which was really fun but I was tired (A). also the flight back home was great the NOC*NSF rented a plane for all Dutch athletes, when we arrived in Holland they took us to the Olympic stadion in Amsterdam where they presented all the Olympic medalists. My 2 weeks turned out in a good holiday.

Didnt update for a while.. but just arrived in China (Beijing). I had a pretty good flight got a free upgrade to business class and slept almost the hole way to Beijing, in a bit we are leaving here again because we are going to Taiyuan (worlds 08 track) to train a bit for the big days. I am still the alternate. We go back to Beijing on august 15th. The wheater is not so bad because it rained yesterday the smog is gone for today and the heat is alright aswell. check back later for more updates..
