Last weekend was the first race of the year
(not the season) in Belgium, before I left I heart alot of rumors that the
track wasnt going to be great.. well they were right the track wasnt good at
all it was very soft on most of the track. (have to give thumps upp for the
track builders who tried to do everything what was possible to make it
better)! Saturday racing wasnt a good day for me I felt very slow and didnt
had the pull I'd liked to on sunday it was a little better and made it to
the semi final with alot of drama happend in that race, I should have made
it into the final but thanks to 1 official who isnt following his rulebook
for the first time in life so I didnt make it! now I have a easy week of
training and will leave to Florida on monday!
Here a small update.. As you might saw on
twitter or on facebook I (and the team) changed bike sponsor for the
upcomming season and will be rocking on the Chase bmx, very happy with that
and hope it all turns out good! Thanks to Jan Schippers, PeteD and
Christophe Leveque! On monday I am leaving to France to visit
and train with Thomas Hamon for a couple days, to get some more track time
in before Euro round 5/6 in Belgium and before leaving to the USA we're ill
be staying for 2 months and wil race in oldsmar and wil stay till after the
supercross in Chula Vista!
Last weekend I had a busy weekend with on
saturday a no chain race in Kampen which was a really nice day it was only
blowing a hard wind but for a no chain race it was'nt to bad we did 3 moto's
followed by a semi and a main I qualified first for the main event and took
the holeshot but I got passed on the 2nd straight
but kept following the #1 close and passed him again on the first straight
so I took the win in the no chain race.. On sunday I went to a nightclub
(disco) (never went that early to a club before) but it was a day I would
try something new and I dont even think it has done
anywhere else in the World before we
had a race in the nightclub
(discodown) organized by fellow BMX-er and 4-Cross rider Joost Wichman. Well
havent to say much about this event it was just great and cant wait to do it
again.. We started on a little bmx
ramp with a drop out off the gate(like in the X-games) followed
by some slippery turns, bar jump and some stairs to go down or up! I
finished 3rd overal but I had a lot of fun and want to thanks everybody who
was involved by organizing this event.. good job guys!
Had a good/busy weekend! on saturday
morning I had a training which was really good finished later then I
expected went to straight to the "sinterklaas optocht" in Arnhem with my
friend Jaymio Brink and Fam. on sunday Dorus Jaymio and I went to watch some
Motocross (cornfield race) with a few BMX guys who are riding there but it
was to cold to be there for a long time
so we left quiet early and went to
ride some trails which was really nice to do.. hope the weather will stay
dry for a few more weeks so we can ride some more track/trails in the next
weeks!
Hey Guys, Welcome back to my site i'll
try to pick up the website where I left it a view months/years
ago! As you all know I am riding for the Intense Europe team
since July this year which works out really good I am glad Jan
Schippers gives me the upportunatly to ride for him and give me
all the help I need! thanks.. I havent changed to much on my
website yet but I'll work on that in the future!
Hey guys, here is an update on my Injury. I crashed 2 weeks ago
in Perugia Italy in my first moto. I can't tell you what
happened cause I can't remember anymore I remember waking up in
the hospital with a broken kidney, bleeding spleen, broken jaw and
a broken hand.. The first few days in the hospital I was in a
critical condition but after a few days I felt better and went
out off bed as well.. after 10 days I finally went home and have
to take a lot of rest now and some more checks in the hospital
next week.. but I feel oke!!
Last
weekend I did my first race of the 2010 season didn't expect
much of this race, because I just started training on the track
about 3 weeks ago and the last 2 weeks we only have been
training on a Supercross track in Chula Vista. Day 1 everything
went pretty good. I qualified out of the motos and made it also
to the semi. In the semi I had lane 8 and had no where to go was
in 5th place and tried to set up a plan to pass Stumpy but while
I did that I got past by another rider and lost all my speed..
Day 2 was a mud fest and you couldn't really call that racing or
bmx anymore everybody was crashing they even slide out on the
first straight cause they got a little bit sideways.. Well I
made it again to the semi crashed in the first turn with some
other riders and was stil in 4th place but some rider was really
close on me and i heart that so took the inside in the last
corner slide out a bit and then he pushed me and passed me..
still busy with cleaning everything. Cant wait till Madrid in 2
weeks (luckily that race is indoor).
Being now for almost 2 weeks over here in San
Diego everything is going well and I am getting the feeling off my
bike back.. gates and pull feels like before again!! This afternoon
we are heading to Phoenix for a race in the weekend pretty excited
to go.. (they don't show it live on Go211.com) After Phoenix we will
come back to San Diego (Chula Vista) for 1 more week off hard
training..
Yesterday we did a Photo shoot with the team
for Redline. The guy who took the Photos is pretty good involved
in BMX he is running a lot of websites like Vintagebmx.com,
bmxnow.com, bmxactiononline.com etc. Some pictures of the photo
shoot.
Didn’t had much to
talk about last few months couldn’t train or do a lot with my
shoulder but it feels way better now and I am back in training,
but you guys could still follow me on Twitter which is on the
left side of my website... I am in California at the moment for
a trainings camp.. staying at Chula Vista and we are training
with the whole team to prepare for the 2010 season which will
start at the end of march. The training and everything is going
well haven’t been on the bike a lot after my surgery. I went to
France 1 time for 10 days but my first day I ended up crashing
and couldn’t walk/train for a few days but at the end of the
week I did some riding which felt good again, here in San Diego
it started off bad as well but this time I had a few problems
with my bike and didn’t take the risk.. the day after we all got
our new bikes and they look pretty cool!! We are staying in
California till march 14th and comeback just before Madrid.
PS. I am trying to do more updates from now on (season is
starting again)
Hey guys, my
shoulder is going good don't have any pain at all anymore. I am
only not aloud to move my arm more then a several degrees in the
air/sideways and twisting.. the physio is happy as well, cause
the movement is feeling good so everything on my shoulder is
going good :). For the rest I already started training again in
the gym (only my legs) and doing a bit of cycling on a spinner
as well.. Living in papendal (OTC) at the moment which is so
much better then traveling everyday back home etc.. We also have
2 new team mates in our team Jellie and Twan..
Finally
an update haha..!! In the main time I have been to Chula Vista
for a World cup which didn't go as planned crashed in the
warm-up before time-trails and used a injection for racing. I
still qualified for racing but at the day of the race it hurted
way more and the injection didn't work this time so wasn't able
to race.. I also have been to France for the last World cup
nothing much to say about, went out in the quarter finals and
dropped to the 8th place in the ranking.. For now I have holiday
till next week thursday (Oct 22) because then I have my surgery
on my shoulder and it will take about 4 months for recovery so I
will keep you guys posted how my recovery will go (will have a
boring 4 months) the last few days I have done alot of
motocrossing which is really fun, will go aswell tomorrow and
try to make some pictures/videos..

Haven't
Updated in a while but quit busy with some things at the
moment.. I am working on some little changes in my Website
picture and I added Twitter on my website, it is just below the
links page (I can update that from my I phone so keep checking
out my twitter and you find out what I am doing..) Last week
there was a big article in a Dutch newspaper I had Swine flu but
luckily I didn't have that :) some riders must have brought it
back home from Adelaide, well talking about Adelaide I haven't
done a update yet from that, I was feeling really good all day
long and had the feeling I was able to do good but in the semi
finale I hit the gate a little bit and missed my 2nd/3rd pedal
what pushed me to the back and after that everything went wrong
so I ended up in the semi. Leaving Sunday to
South Africa cant wait cause I've never been in Africa before so
really looking forward to that :)Swatch sended me
the picture today from the Photoshoot in Copenhagen..
Just back home
from Denmark round 15 & 16 of the European championships coming
into the event I was leading by just 3 points in front of Arnoud
Dubois. On Saturday I won all my motos and so did he we both
didn't lose a point until the final, in the final I had a pretty
bad gate and got shut down by Hamon straight out of the gate but
managed to finish in 5th but Arnoud finished in 3rd so that made
the points tie.. Sunday we both didn't lose a point again and in
the main I picked lane 1 with Arnoud on 2 and I got the best
gate of the weekend had a little bit of trouble coming over the
2nd jump and slipped a little in the first turn which messed up
my 2nd straight but I couldn't find Arnoud in front of me and
thought he must be some where close to me but he wasn't cause in
the last turn I found out he crashed on the first straight.. Roy
van den Berg won again. After this weekend I finally
can call myself the new 2009 European Champion..Top 3 in the overall ranking:1. Martijn Scherpen NED2. Arnoud Dubois BEL 3. Roy van den Berg NED
